Usually, candidates whose English is at the Upper-Intermediate to Advanced level, are expected to achieve a score of 350 (B) or more; this is an equivalent of band score 7.0 in IELTS or B2/C1 in CEFR. Those candidates who have taken language tests before and whose command of English has not fallen within the above-mentioned level may require additional training in 'general English' to reach this level before they could expect to achieve their desired score.
OET subscribes to the research-backed position that it takes 100 hours for students to improve from one OET grade to the next (i.e. from a C+ to a B), the same position held by IELTS who recommends 100 hours to improve by 0.5 of a band. For more information, refer to the Slides in the Members' Area of the website.
